The neutrino minimal Standard Model extension introduces a right handed, massive, very weakly coupled, partner to the SM neutrinos

Hidden Particles

Very weakly interacting long lived particles including Heavy Neutral Leptons - right-handed partners of the active neutrinos, vector, scalar, axion portals to the Hidden Sector, and light supersymmetric particles - sgoldstinos...
The SPS accelerator complex with the new Beam Dump Facility

Beam Dump Facility

SHiP will be installed in the new high intensity, 400 GeV, beam dump facility of the Super Proton Synchrotron at CERN. Sharing the SPS beam time with other users, SHiP expects 2 1020 protons on target in 5 years of running.

The Experiment

SHiP is charachterized by a large and powerful active magnetic shield, designed to remove all known charged particles originating from the collision. This is followed by a dedicated neutrino detector, and by a 50 meter long vacuum volume where Hidden Sector particles are expected to decay into known particles. The decay products are then measured by the spectrometer, calorimeter, timing and muon detectors downstream. An extensive set of veto systems and background identification will make SHiP an extremely sensitive and clean detector.
